The database we are proposing to build is for The Spectrum; a student-run publication at the University at Buffalo. First launched in December 1950, it has been operating with the capacity for three publications per week with a volume of 7,000 copies per batch which is read by almost 21,000 people. Financially separate from the school, the Spectrum facilitates it’s operating cash flow by means of online advertisement and subscription print. The paper employs over 50 UB students, who contribute to its 5 sections including; life and arts, local and national news, sports, photo journalism, and an editorial page.
